Henry Schein Completes Acquisition of Southern Anaesthesia + Surgical



Office-based dentals, animal health and medical practitioners, dental laboratories, government and institutional health clinics and other alternative care sites obtain health care products and services from the world’s largest distributor, Henry Schein Inc. (HSIC). The company caters more than 1 million customers and contains more than 21,000 employees.

The company offers a wide variety of products and services, which includes value-added solutions for operating efficient practices and high quality care. Moreover, the company provides its customers with exclusive and innovative technology solutions, which includes practice management software and e-commerce services, as well as a wide range of financial amenities. Also, the company offers its customers 120,000 branded products and Henry Schein private-brand products to choose from as well as 180,000 additional products available on special orders.

Henry Schein has its headquarters in Melville, N.Y., with operations and affiliates in 33 countries. The affiliates and the headquarter communicate through a centralized and automated distribution network, progressing the company and making a record breaking sale of $11.6 billion in 2016. Furthermore, the company has been recorded to grow at a compound annual rate of 15% since it became public in 1995.

Henry Schein recently announced its acquisition of Southern Anaesthesia + Surgical (SAS), a prominent U.S. based company that supplies anaesthesia and surgical instruments to oral surgeons, dental anaesthesiologists, and periodontists.  It provides controlled as well as non-controlled pharmaceuticals and surgical supplies to around 11,500 customers, making a sale of $72 million as reported in 2016. This transaction was declared on 20th February 2017, with the rest financial details not disclosed.

SAS contains 88 members in its team and has headquarters in West Columbia, South Carolina, and warehouse and customer service facilities in Reno, Nevada, and Tulsa, Oklahoma. SAS will now come under a subsidiary of Henry Schein, Inc., ACE Surgical Supply Co., Inc. (ACE). Since 1967, ACE has been working on dental-surgical advancements and has become a world-wide top provider of bone regenerative products and compatible dental implant systems.  With its headquarters in Brockton, Massachusetts, ACE contains 93 employees who manage to deliver supplies to 120,000 dental professions in more than 20 countries every year.

The SAS business will be headed the same way by its present management team, chaired by Bill Alexander, the Vice President and General Manager.
